Question Sorento 3 Across

I have a 2011 Sorento. We are expecting #3 in July 2014 and I'm trying to figure out how 3 car seats will fit. When new baby arrived I will have a 5 year old (currently 42" & thin) & a 2 year old (currently 29" & thin). Currently they are both in Evenflow Symphony. We have a Graco high back for our older daughter as a back up; but I feel she's too small for it right now. Any suggestions on what 3 seats we can fit?

Thanks!

Hello and welcome! :) I'm not familiar with your vehicle or the Evenflo Symphony, but I wanted to respond with some general info. I know your kids will likely gain weight before July, but if you could share their current weights and current torso heights/shirt sizes, that would help with the recommendations. The Graco Turboboosters is known for fitting smaller riders well, but as with any booster, it would require that the child can stay in place properly for every ride. Sometimes, buckling a booster in a 3 Across situation can be trickier than having everyone in harnesses.

Do you have an infant seat that's not expired from your older children or are you looking to purchase a new infant seat or convertible for the baby?

Some narrow seats to consider researching include the Harmony Defender for your 5 year old (it's a combination seat that goes from harness mode to booster mode). For your 2 year old, a narrow seat like one of the Diono Radians would likely allow a couple of more years of rear-facing before continuing to be a narrow forward-facing seat (or to pass down to your youngest) or a seat up on a base like the Graco My Ride might puzzle well with an infant seat or booster because it has a tall, narrow base. :)

Thanks!

I'll try to get exact measurements tonight but my 4year old is about 38pds & 42" tall. My 1.5year old about 22lbs & 29" tall. We still have a Graco Snug Ride that is not expired. I would like to be able to use any car seat we have but would rather buy all new seats than a new car. :)

Oh... also my 4 year old is wearing size 5 in shirts & pants however she can easily still fit a size 4 if it wasn't for the length. My 1.5year old is wearing 18month in both shirts & pants.

Hi! I don't know about your vehicle, but I just wanted to let you know about my situation - I have a 5yo and a 2yo, with baby #3 due next month. Our intended 3 across is a Radian FF, something similar to a Britax Roundabout, and a Chicco Keyfit30.

You have many more options than I do though - you could get a Defender, Radian and a Combi Cocorro if you need to buy new seats all round? Have you tried the successful 3 across thread with your vehicle?

Some measurements to have would be the torso heights of your 4yo and 1.5yo. (obtained by sitting them down and measuring from shoulder to bum) Oh, and also their weight. The people on this board have so much knowledge and will definitely be able to help you out. Good luck!
