Safety 1st Complete Air carseat in Prius

I just bought a Safety 1st Complete Air 65 carseat second hand. I was trying to install it in my mom's 2006 Prius and had a lot of trouble. When we put it rear facing, it keeps wobbling around from side to side. I couldn't get the LATCH top clip to reach around to the back. Any advice? My son is 10.5 months old, 22 lbs, and pretty robust.

Hi there! Could you provide more information? Where in the car were you installing it (side, center)? Were you using the seatbelt or lower anchors? Is the seat installed rear-facing or forward-facing? (That seat doesn't allow the use of the top tether when rear-facing.)

That seat normally requires a rolled towel or pool noodles under the foot of it to get the proper recline. Make sure the LATCH belt or seatbelt are routed through the resurfacing path. Do you know the history of the seat. Generally it is not recommended to purchase used seats. If the straps have ever been washed with chemicals or the seat was in an accident, it wouldn't be safe to use any more.

She meant to make sure you are using the rear facing belt path for the latch belt or the seat belt, not the resurfacing path! When you're checking for movement, only grab the seat right at the belt path and check to make sure it won't move more than an inch side to side or front to back. If it does move more than that, try another seating position or using seatbelt instead of LATCH or vice versa to install.
