Positive Experience on a Bad Day!

We had freezing rain yesterday morning and I slid on ice making a turn leaving my street going down hill and hit another car when I was taking DD to school. I was going maybe 5-10km/hr so not fast at all and just slid right into it. It was icy enough that when I got out of my car to assess the damages, as soon as my feet hit the pavement they slid out from under me and I landed on my butt in the middle of the road.
The other car looks pretty much untouched, but it is an older car so pretty solid. My vehicle (which is brand new this year..ugh) had like half the front panel fall off in a big chunk and the wheel well bent in causing it to not be drivable.

On the plus side, I talked to my insurance company and didn't even have to make any mention of car seats, the adjuster instantly told me that my car seats both had to be replaced (Radian RXT and Harmony Cruz), to pick out the same car seats in store and send her the receipt. Considering the low speed and that I barely felt the impact, I was really surprised that they jumped so quickly and willingly to replace but was thrilled to hear how great they were about it!

Glad you're ok! And that they're good about the seats! I always remember that older "tanks" transfer so much more force to the occupants; I'm glad you weren't hurt!

That's excellent that they jumped right on the replacement seats, I'm happy to hear at least some companies have got it figured out! :)

Same thing happened to us when we hit a deer last summer. The impact felt like little more than a bad pothole and the cop on site just shrugged me off when I asked whether our seat ended to be replaced. But insurance insisted upon it when my husband called. I don't think my husband had brought it up even -- I think they asked who was in the car and when he mentioned our baby, they immediately told him to replace the seat and send them the receipt.

Should probably give them a shout-out for being such a good insurance about that:

Way to go, AAA!

I have to say, it is amazing the difference between an accident in a new car versus an old. I barely felt even a slight bump this time around (and honestly was even reluctant myself to jump and replace my seats). Previously when I've been in even minor accidents with other vehicles, it hurts!

Brokerlink is who I am with for insurance and they have always been great. As soon as I mentioned that my kids were with me they mentioned car seats. Hopefully they don't change their mind when they discover that I had $400 worth of seats in there!
