Help- 2013 Ford Escape!! Infant seat won't fit!

we have a new baby (12 weeks) and have the orbit carseat installed in the middle of our 2013 Ford Escape. while we are satisfied with the function and convince of the seat, and hate to get a different seat because of the stroller compatibility. It just doesn't fit!!! it's not a small car by any means, but it seems that because the back seat sits a little high or something, the front seats have to be almost all the way forward and straight up in order for the carseat to fit. my husband and I are both tall people. while in the first few months when baby was in the car only a handful of times for short trips (pediatrician, etc.) we were able to make the situation work, but it really isn't feasible (or safe) to keep up. we also tried out neighbors seat (a Chico, but unsure of model- sorry) and had the same problem. maybe a seat that is really narrow would work, as perhaps it could fit in between the two front seats slowing them to recline a little more? baby is tall and skinny, btw. please help!!?!? thank you so much!

Something seems off. I know the Escape is redesigned but we had a Chicco Keyfit installed in our Escape (2008). We had it on the side and in the middle and it fit just fine. Without actually being there to see your set up, I can't imagine what is wrong. Do you have a car seat technician close to you? Look at this thread...

The Escape is TOTALLY different now. I wish I had seen this earlier. I was in one at a class today. I'll email Charles and see if they've done installs in it at all and see if he'd let me. We weren't using it in the class because it is "too new". ;)

The closest tech is nearly 3 hours away, so i don't think it's feasible for me right now. but thank you for the link and suggestion.

I know it sounds strange that it wouldn't fit in a car of that size, but it absolutely doesn't. my husband (who is an engineer) installed the carseat and a close friend who also has the orbit recently looked at it (not to mention, i have read the manual cover to cover multiple times), so I truely don't think anything could be off with the install. the backseats seem to sit fairly high, so i think perhaps causing the problem? As the longest part of the carseat hits exactly where the steepest part of the fronts seats are. again, we are both tall, so that may be slightly to blaim, but I don't think even the shortest person could even fit comfortably; since for the carseat to fit, the seats must be at almost a 90 degree angle and slide up almost as far as the will go.

I so appreciate your help and suggestions!
