2007 Subaru Forrester and 2 year old

Hello, I'm new here and need advice/have a question.

My daughter turned two on Sept. 23 so she is almost 26 months old. She weighs 25 lbs and is 34.5 inches tall.

We currently have a Combi Corroco RF on the passenger side of our '07 Subaru Forrester because that was the only carseat we could find that was nice and would fit with a functional passenger seat.

My husband drives a 2005 Scion TC which is a 2-door "sportier" car. Prior to this we were still using her infant carrier when she would ride in this car because she still fit in it with her small height/weight specifications. That is no longer the case. She rarely rides in his car, however, we need a new carseat for his car for when she does and I'd like to get a more permanent one.

I am a fan of extended rear-facing. The Combi goes to 33lbs. rear facing. She still comfortable fits since she is pretty petite. Her legs are obviously crossed or going up the backseat but that's okay and normal. I need to remove the infant insert because she reached the 25 lbs and I think that will help her fit more comfortably. MY husband hates the Combi. He says it is difficult to open and get her in and the straps to always tangle etc.

I was looking at the Graco Nautilus. A friend of mine also said great things of the Diono Radian Convertible Booster seat. I want this to be our last purchase. The Radian is a lot more pricier so is it worth the extra expense? Will either of these fit in my Forrester? I know they will need to be forward facing. So I would have to switch her FF earlier? Or would you keep her in the Combi RF for now and just use the Nautlis or the Radian in the Scion for now until she gets bigger since she rides in the car a lot less. If that's the case, will those fit in the Scion TC--preferably in the middle?

Sorry this is long and thank you!

Hi there.

The Radian will fit well rear facing, especially in the middle and installed with the seatbelt and angle adjuster, but it'll fit rear facing on a side with the angle adjuster with enough room for a comfortable adult. It doesn't make a good booster, but you'd be able to use it until you need a booster. Actually, to be more accurate, the belt fit is good, but for a petite child the 50 pound minimum will likely keep you from being able to use it because she may not be 50 pounds before she outgrows it by height.

I'd go for the Radian, since the Nautilus doesn't rear face, and keep your daughter rear facing in your car. If your husband hates the Coccoro and she's outgrown the infant seat in his car, maybe you could get a Safety 1st Guide 65 to rear face her in there?

I also have a 2007 forester and the Radian does fit no problem with the angle adjuster. My 6'2" boyfriend had no problem sitting in the front with it behind him.
