infant car seat fitting in geo prism

I have a 94m geo prism and wish to install an infant car seat with base in the middle back position. the middle seat belt buckle side is to long and extends to far into base to be safely secured. is there a fix for this such as a new shorter seat belt hat can be purchased from geo? or any other suggestions!!!

Hi-

Some seatbelts like this don't work well with many carseats. You might just have to find a store willing to allow you to try a few different models to see what fits before you buy one. Infant seat bases can be especially problematic. If you are unable to find one that fits, you might try a convertible carseat used rear-facing instead.

We are having the exact same problem in our subaru legacy. Just wondering if you found a solution. We currently have a graco snugride but would be willing to get a different seat if it would fit. have you found one that works with long belts? i've also heard of belt shortening clips but don't know how safe they are. Hope you figured something out...we're not having much luck here!

It may be possible to twist the buckle stalk to make it shorter so that the buckle isn't up in the beltpath of the car seat. Sometimes that helps. Babies R Us allows you to take the seat out to the car and try before you buy, too.
