Concerned about info on city website

Here is the link.
http://www.ci.waukesha.wi.us/web/guest/firechildsafety

It is telling dangerous and incorrect information. How do I complain, who do I complain too? I was looking for a tech in Waukesha, Wi for my cousin and this was one of the links. What do I do I feel that I can't just leave it.
I hope this is in the right section I didn't know where to put this, please move if there is somewhere else more appropriate . Thank you

Thanks for posting the link! Yes it is wrong in many ways...the first one that jumps out to me is the implication that children cannot RF after 20 lbs. :(

It kind of gives the impression that the information they've compiled is all about 10 or 12 years old (not only the RF, but references to shield boosters etc).

I would think the best thing would be not to complain per se but to approach them kindly, or have a tech do so if you're not comfortable, and provide them with updated information and knowledge, and impress upon them the need to update their site (and the liability to them of not doing so?).

Ugh, shield boosters?

I agree that I would contact someone at the city office and suggest that the page could use some updating to follow current guidelines. It probably hasn't even been touched for ages.

When you get to the right person, maybe they would be willing to have a document sent to them for review, and then they can have their page updated.

Thanks for the replies and thanks for the ideas. I'll try and contact them about it and let them know of the current recommendations. Hopefully something will happen, I am actually located in Australia so I will have to do it by email. I'll try and keep you updated.
Thanks again :)

We have several Wisconsin techs here on CSO. I wonder whether it might make the most sense to contact them; perhaps they could alert Safe Kids Coalition that covers that area to make the contact. Just a thought.

It looks to me like that information was pulled from really old documents and just needs to be reviewed. It was all correct as of about 15 years ago...

Actually, I emailed them. :) A few other emails probably wouldn't hurt, just to get their attention. Be nice and polite. ;)

I looked and saw that while the city's IT department maintains the website, the individual departments are responsible for content. The child passenger safety content is under the Fire Department's jurisdiction. So I emailed the fire department.

I got a response already!

Elizabeth,

Thank you very much for bringing this to our attention. Not too long ago, we had someone up date our website. Unfortunately outdated information was utilized. We will make the appropriate changes to make sure the correct information is available to those that visit our site. Since we no longer provide child safety seat inspections at the City of Waukesha Fire Department, I think it might be best for us to limit the information on our website to links to organizations such as the National Safe Kids Organization, the National Child Passenger Safety Board, and as you referenced, the NHTSA.

Once again, thank you for your assistance and offer of support. It is greatly appreciated.

Very good. :)
