Question Shipping seats?

What is the safest way to shop a seat? I'm lending my Coccoro to a friend out of state. I do still have the original box, but it's been a fort for the past year and I don't know how sturdy it would be or if it would hold up in transit.

I wouldn't trust the box it came in. I'm going to be shipping a CCO to a friend out of state soon too, and I'll be buying a Dish Barrel Box ($7-ish at U-Haul) to ship it in. It has double walls and fits a smallish car seat (about up to Scenera size) perfectly and snugly.

I'm at FedEx right now, and while this is going to sound like a really stupid question I have to ask: is there any problem with putting paper in to fill space? All my seats that I've had shipped to me from stores came with no packing materials in the box. The lady, when I said it was a carseat, said she didn't want it to get banged around and damaged (I'm impressed that she cared!) and wanted to fill empty space with paper packing.
