News Diono news from the Baby Times Show

I was just at the Baby Times Show in Toronto, checking out Diono, Clek, and Britax.

Diono news: The Pacifica, Rainier, and Olympia line is coming to Canada in early 2014. The base area with the boot remains the same and the changes are in the shoulder area. They confirmed it has already passed Canadian testing and will RF to 50lbs, and they tested with the 6 year old dummy. Big news in Canada!

They are also bringing two new boosters to Canada, the Cambria and the Solana, pics from ABC here. No samples of any of these on site.

Cambria is similar to the Monterey but without the expandable sides. The shape of the arm rests are a bit different with more of a scooped curve to them. Height and weight limits are the same as the Monterey. Latchable, expected price point around $109-119ish, coming possibly as early as December but more likely around February.

Solana is the backless Cambria and will be a stand-alone. Will accommodate bigger kids much like the Sante Fe (no longer in Canada) did. Also latchable, with the basic hooks. Price point about $70ish but I could be wrong about that, that sounds high but that's what my brain is recalling.

They did have a possible new cover though, in addition to the houndstooth with pink harness shown at ABC. An all-denim cover with cute red stitching with 'jean' detailing. I liked it!

50lbs rf! Wow! Does it have the same 44" height limit as the other Radians?
I wonder if we will see the Foonf pass at 50lbs rf here too soon..
Thanks for the updates!

There are no plans to rate the Foonf to 50lbs rf'ing in Canada. In general, it is only the shorter and heavier kids who benefit from the higher rf'ing weight limit in any seat. Most kids outgrow their rf'ing seats by height before weight.

Yup, completely agree Trudy. Not many kids will need the 50lbs limit, but I do have a friend with a 30lbs 6 month old, so you never know! (my 4 year old is 34bs, still rf. but she will definitely outgrow her radian by height long before getting close to the current 45lbs limit)

And will the rfing limit in the US also be 50lbs and 44inches?
Thanks
