Question 3 across in Prius? What is the Best Booster with 2 Radians?

Hello - We currently have 3 Radians across the back of our 2011 Prius. Our oldest (8 years) is already in a Booster in our other car and is ready to sit in a Booster in the Prius. Our other two children (5 & 6 years old) will be fine in the Radians for hopefully at least 1-2 more years. Any advice on what brand/model Booster might fit the best. Also, does anybody have advice on how we can click in his seat belt, as it seems difficult and tight to squeeze hands between the seats? Is a seat belt extender OK to use? Thanks!!

    Hello, and welcome to CSO!

Have you checked out our successful 3 across thread? I'd start there, to give you some ideas of what might fit. You can use the 'search this thread' button to narorw the responses with Prius in them.

Have you tried any boosters yet? Which one(s)? What kind of booster is your child riding in in your other vehicle?

And for buckling...if whatever you end up with is still a tight fit you can try buckling first then loosen the belt to slide under and then tighten.

We have a Graco Affix booster in our other car, but it is too wide to fit in the Prius. We also had difficulty buckling it next to the two Radians.

I've never had much luck with a booster plus FF Radians in my Prius (besides a Bubblebum), but I wanted to mention that seatbelt extenders are NOT okay. They change the geometry of the belt and aren't approved for use with any booster. You will probably need to slide the booster out, buckle him, and slide it back in, or do what PP said.
    Good luck!

Thanks for the response about the extender. There is mixed messages out there on their safety! Is the bumblebum safe to use daily? It looks rather flimsy.

Thanks for mentioning that...I meant to do it and then forgot while I was replying!

Yes, the Bubblebum is safe to use daily. It also passes testing deflated just in case. The webbing holding the belt guides is very thick and the guides themselves are metal, and those are the most important parts. However, it can be a pain to use daily since the belt guide needs to be clipped onto the belt (vs just looping the belt under an armrest.) Unfortunately, 3 across in a Prius is no easy task and it might be the best option for you; I just don't know. Hopefully someone else has tried a booster with 2 FF Radians that can chime in!

Question Re: 3 across in Prius? What is the Best Booster with 2 Radians?

Has anybody tried the Harmony Dreamtime with 2 Radians? We are still inclined to use a booster with a back instead of a backless one? Does anybody have experience with any other narrow boosters with a back?
