Please explain standing height limits.

My infant seat goes to 30 inches and 35 lbs. Obviously there's also the 1 inch above the head rule too. But I have heard that a 30 inch kid (who still meets the 1 inch rule) has up to 31 inches before outgrowing the seat because if they're 30.5 inches they're still "in the growing room of the 30th inch" (or something like that-- I can't remember the exact wording).

Is this true?

The only company I have ever heard say it that way is Clek. As far as I know with all the other manufacturers 30.5" would be over the limit of 30".

Which seat is that? I'm having a hard time remembering a seat with a 35lb limit that doesn't have at least a 32" height limit

It's the Aton 2. The Aton 1 is 32 lbs, 30" and the Aton 2 is 35 lbs, 30". I definitely wish they'd added to the height limits rather than the weight (at least for our kid), but I suppose maybe then it wouldn't fit in our car as easily front-to-back.

There goes Clek again -- breaking all the rules and creating confusion for the rest of us. I will make sure to switch my kid to a convertible when she hits 30" and not after. In all likelihood, she will hit the 1" rule first, though, because she has a longer torso (as do her stubby-legged parents!)
