US SureRide owners - a favour please?

We just got the SureRide in Canada, and I suspect our first batch has short harness straps. I'm trying to figure out if all of them do, or some, or what.

Today I did measure the straps - I undid both loops from the splitter plate, pulled them through to the front, took them out of the chest clip and crotch buckle, and then held the two loops up in the air and evenly adjusted. I measured from that point down to the shell at the hip, and when compressing the cover I got 32". Not the most precise method I do realize but didn't want to get kicked out of the store for dismantling a seat :)

Could I bother someone to measure yours and tell me what you get? Several someones in fact.

Last week I attempted to put my slim, 5.5 year old, 46lb, 49" daughter into it on the highest slots (she could have possibly gotten away with 2nd from the top but it was already installed) and I couldn't even get the chest clip done up the harness was so short. That can not be right.

Much appreciated!

It's kinda a known that the store displays all seem to have short harnesses.

Lets see what mine is :). Looks like I got 32.5in doing it your way (minus taking off the chest clip etc.)

A BRU employee who is a tech here said that there is no such thing as display model at BRU. A new one comes out of the box and is put on the shelf.

Thank you!

Huh, ok. Thought I'd read that here somewhere, but I could easily be mistaken.

Or it could be a US/Cdn BRU difference I suppose. Oh the mysteries of the universe eh?!

I know in U.S. at least at Target we have specific floor models and they all have to have a huge sign that says floor model, not for sale". The sad thing is a manager once told me that people steal them anyways.

Mine was only about 31.5" without removing the clips. After removing the clips, it was only about 31.75".

Have any of you had larger kids in your specific seats? I do not understand how some people seem to be able to put kids near the top end of the FF range and I couldn't get the chest clip on my skinny minny 5 year old.

When I put my 9yr old niece in it with it on the top slots (she happens to be even with the 5th) I could not get both crotch buckles done. I was able to do the chest clip, but she did that up before I started on the crotch strap. And that was having it as loose as it could get. When I realized she was even with the 5th and moved them down, I was able to do it, but only with it let all the way out and it was HARD. So yeah, Evenflo needs to lengthen that harness (and fix that harness splitter plate thing) and offer it to current owners.

I can get my 65lb five year old in it on the second from top slots with about four inches left on the adjuster strap. Clearly he's at the weight limit, but he fits.
