Radian experience-- is this typical/what should I expect to happen now?

My five-and-a-half-year-old DN rides in a Radian XT in my car, and the seat is typically used about once every two weeks (or so ). Due to a CRAZY-busy summer, I think he actually only rode in my car twice all summer, though.

At the beginning of the summer, DN was still able to RF in the Radian, but he rode in it FF at all times (except one brief trip in which he rode RF). He also had around 1.5" of room between his shoulders and the top harness slots.

To be honest, I don't remember how he fit in the Radian mid-summer, when he rode in it again.

Tonight, I put him in the Radian again and was SHOCKED to see that he is now getting VERY close to even with the top harness slots. That's around 1.5" of torso growth in two months! That can't be typical, can it?

It isn't typical to grow 1.5" of TORSO in only two months, correct?

What should I expect now? Will he likely grow legs now, and let his legs catch up with his torso?

Now I need to figure out what to do. I know he can use the Radian with his shoulders above the top slots, but I don't feel comfortable using it that way. I returned my Frontier 90, but I might need to buy another. :(

I dont know but my tiny dd grew 3 whole inches of torso in a year before. Craziness!

Btw, shes 42 in or something tall at 5.5 and even with our radians top slots also.

Is your dn ready for a booster?

He has ridden in a booster, but I don't think he's ready full-time yet. Sigh.

I guess for now I'll just keep using the Radian and hope that he grows legs now instead of more torso. :p

I'm glad to hear someone else saw a kiddo grow a massive amount of torso quickly. I couldn't believe the 1.5" in two months!

If he only occasionally rides with you, it'd be a great chance to teach him proper booster riding unless you don't think he could.

Mine just turned 4 and he's over the top on our XTSL.
OK, if the headrest didn't slip he'd have a bit of growing room. (So really wasn't as bad as I thought).

I just put our Radian back in for him, tightened the bolts are pray it works out. He MUST have this seat as it's the only thing narrow enough for my current set-up. As in...I'd even go by what the seat allows (under 53" and ears not too tall, etc). But for now he's fine (and under even) if my bolts stay put.

His seat puzzles next to a RF Radian but won't for a FF Radian, so the 2 YO is fine in the RF Radian for now..
