Is tether REQUIRED on a Frontier 85 long belt path install high weight

New member
Britax customer service was less than inspiring when they first told me the tether wasn't required at all because I know it is eventually a requirement for high weight harnessing.

Does anyone know if the tether is required past 65 lbs only on lower install methods or is it required on any of the 3 install options---lower anchor, lap/lower belt path and long belt path?

From looking at the Frontier 85 manual, in the Lap-Shoulder Belt - Long Path, it states the following
Check that your vehicle has a top tether anchor?
* You MUST always use the Versa-Tether for children weighing
65 – 85 lbs (29.5 – 38.6 kg).
* Britax recommends that the Versa-Tether is used at all times.
Using the tether will improve the stability of the child seat and
reduce the risk of injury.

In the Frontier 85 SICT manual though for Lap-Shoulter Belt - Long Path, it states the following
Check that your vehicle has a top tether anchor?
* Britax recommends that the Versa-Tether is used at all times.
Using the tether will improve the stability of the child seat and
reduce the risk of injury. Check your vehicle owner’s manual for
tether anchor locations.

I would say that the wording in the manual is pretty clear that the tether is required on the Frontier 85 after 65 pounds, but not required on the Frontier 85 SICT.
