Wow. Era on that???
It's so funny, I have the sort of memory where my mother is always asking me "How on earth do you remember that???" - I have NO memory whatsoever of having ridden in a car seat. My earliest car memories are either in the wayback of our '78 Olds wagon or sitting on the armrest between my parents in the same. OR in my mother's lap, driving me to preschool. ZERO car seat memories. But I do remember a car seat in our basement that we used to play with, and it looked kind of like that.
I was born in '77.
I would love to know what we had.
My mother says we never had a car seat but my dad confirms we had one... just never used it LOL

Googling this seat, trying to see if it might be what we had - I had previously thought it might be a GM seat since GM used to sell seats - and found this ad for one in a newspaper in 1981. On sale for $45, reg. $52.

I like the dyn-o-mite infant seat in the same ad that is "dynamically tested." That makes me picture JJ on Good Times yelling DYN O MITE!

I've been contacted by a collector on Facebook (not sure if its the same guy who is around c-s.org) who has told me its from 1982. When I was wiping down the seat today, I discovered ALL OF THE ORIGINAL PAPERWORK under the seatpad. It was in a plastic produce bag and all of it is like I just took a new seat out of the box. Incredible. The pictures are on my phone, but I will try to post them here soon. The seat actually came with recommended instructions on how to make your own aftermarket cover!
