Question What convertible for 2nd (small) car? Safety First Guide 65 in sedan?

My little guy is 9 months, about 22# and 28". He's been happy in his Chicco Keyfit30 until recently but is nearing in on the height limit, and he seems to have gotten his dad's broad shoulders. We've decided on the NextFit for our primary convertible seat but need a second convertible seat for our other car.

We can't decide between Britax Roundabout ($140 on Amazon) or one of the Safety First or Evenflo seats. We saw recommendations for the Safety First Guide 65 but can't seem to find it in a store to actually see it. The car is a Malibu Maxx with LATCH hooks that work in the center position but cause the seat to be slightly more behind the driver's seat. My husband is tall (> 6'), so he needs leg room when driving. The Keyfit30 fits fine. Would the Guide 65 fit rear-facing?

Help? Any recommendations other than the ones we're looking at?

Thanks!!!

Hello and welcome to car-seat.org!

If the LATCH system in the center causes the seat to be too far behind the driver's seat, I would suggest either installing the seat in the center with the seatbelt or installing with LATCH or seatbelt in the passenger outboard position.

If the KeyFit fits in the car, almost any convertible (the Guide 65 included) should fit, as well. Convertibles, because they can be installed more upright than infant seats, can actually take up less room than infant seats.
