HELP with new car purchase

Hi all --

We currently have a 3 month old in the Uppababy Mesa, which has an incredibly easy LATCH install (three indicators for correct installation). It's also fairly easy to install with a seatbelt, of course. My plan is to use this until at least 9 months, then switch to a seat for extended RF. We hope to have #2 when this LO is around 2 years old, so he'd still be RF.

I'm car shopping and slightly overwhelmed. What are your thoughts on any of the following cars, in terms of 1) room for carseats, 2) ease of install, and 3) room to carry around all the stuff that goes with 1 or 2 kids. I'm not ready for a full size SUV or minivan.

TIA!!

1) 2014 Ford Escape
2) 2013/14 Honda CRV (the 2014 comes out next week) -- had LATCH in the middle seat, total of 5 connectors (so middle/outboard or 2 outboard, but not 3 seats with LATCH)
3) 2013 Sante Fe Sport

(The Escape and Sante Fe Sport allow LATCH with middle connectors, but are >11" and the Mesa doesn't allow that. You wouldn't be able to put in 2 carseats with LATCH that way, though)

(Also looked at the 2014 Mazda CX5 and the 2013 Rav4, but wasn't impressed with either.)

I don't have any hands-on with any of them, but also consider that of the models you're considering (at least current models) but of those three only the CRV gets at least a "Marginal" rating from the IIHS's new small-overlap crash test. The two that tested good were the Subaru Forester and Mitsubishi Outlander ...
