Looking for a seat that might not exist...

:happy-wavehello: I haven't really been around much with everything I've had going on (my grandmother passed away in June, I moved cities and now my niece was just born on Saturday night ) so I'm pretty out of date on new seats. So... I need a convertible. I have one seat right now (Radian XTSL) being used ff'ing for a 3 1/2 year old. I need a seat to use rear-facing that I need to be shared between a large 6mo and my new nieceling. I won't have her that often otherwise I'd pull up my third row and do a baseless install with her keyfit somewhere? But yeah, it's not worth the hassle for the here and there I'll have her. So, my big requirement is that it has to have a no-rethread harness - I do NOT want to rethread every time I have her in the car. Needs to fit newbies. I vastly prefer some form of rebound control.
From what I can tell, my options are the Peg convertible or the Nextfit. Anything else I should look at? (I am not considering the Britax convertibles.) I know the Peg is shorter but I'm leaning towards it over the Nextfit because a) the Nextfit straps are non-removable... With two barfy babies as the passengers that seems dumb and b) the Nextfit has no rebound control. Any reason to NOT get the Peg? (Also c: I'm a total sucker for the red Peg ) I'd REALLY like something taller but I don't think there is what essentially amounts to a Peg but... taller, out there. :p

Graco MySize/Size4Me might be in your mix, too, although again, no rebound.

TrueFit premier?

Also, congrats on the niece :) I saw photos on FB but didn't know who it was!

If you like the Peg, go for it. :) Just know you might need another convertible before the child is ready to be FF. If it is for your new niece (congrats!), that should be fine because I'm sure the 3-year-old who is currenly occupying the Radian will be ready for a combination seat or booster when the Peg is outgrown.

Sorry about your grandma. :(

ETA: I missed the part about the 6mo. Oops. Even so, I think you'll be fine. :)

Meh, I don't really like the Graco clones. TFP is too low of a weight limit unfortunately - 6mo is already 24lbs. That was on my list for awhile though!

:yeahthatlove: Nextfit is anti rebound, the foot area is way up high on the seatback, like all the Canadian seats that have the anti rebound standard bolsters.

Nice to 'see' you back :)

Oh, that's a good point... Hmmmm. So I guess it comes down to whether I'm willing to take a chance with the straps and if I'll settle for one of the Nextfit covers. I'd still prefer a rf tether but the bolsters are better than nothing...

Congrats on the niece :)

Just wanted to chime in about the anti-rebound... I'm really big on rebound control, and when I had the Nextfit I wasn't concerned about it at all. You can tell when the seat is installed that rebound management is part of the design.
