Hi! What is the weight limit to rear face in a 2009 Yukon? Is it 48lbs? Is this the seat weight plus child's weight to reach 48? TIA

Hi and welcome to car-seat.org! GM vehicle models previously had 48 lb. child weight limits for installing a carseat using the lower LATCH anchors, but this was revised within the past year or so to a maximum combined weight of the child plus weight of the carseat not exceeding 65 lbs. total for a LATCH installation in GM vehicles. If/when your child's weight plus the weight of your specific carseat model combined is 65 lbs. or more, then you'll need to install using the vehicle seatbelt instead of using the lower LATCH anchors for a rear facing or forward facing installation.

If you need help in figuring out the weight of your carseat plus weight of the child calculation to determine whether or not you can currently use LATCH, etc., please feel free to post back with the specific carseat model you're using and your child's weight and we can likely help to sort it out. The idea behind LATCH was to simplify/standardize carseat installation but the reality is that it's another layer of complexity in terms of figuring where LATCH can be used in the vehicle (not all vehicle seating positions are LATCH equipped or allow a LATCH install, and as you're aware there are weight limits for using LATCH).

What she said. :)

And welcome to cs.org! If you're trying to determine if or when your rear facing seat needs to be turned forward facing (or switch from infant to convertible?) please post what car seat you have.
