Question Britax Marathon in Ford F-150

I installed a rear-facing Britax Marathon behind the passenger seat of my husband's 2002 F-150 extended cab. There is no latch, so I installed using the shoulder-lap belt and it seems like a nice tight install. I am puzzled though on the tether. The Britax manual said to attach the tether to something bolted down. The truck manual says there is a tether behind the passenger seat, which there is, but it is actually on the back of the seat. The seat can obviously move, so I attached the tether ring to the metal rails for the seat that are on the floor. Does that sound right? or should I have used the ring on the back of the seat? Sorry, no pictures since I am work. TIA.

The seat track rails are fine, just make sure that pushing the seat back won't interfere or cut the d ring. The top tether point on the actual seat is used either for Australian tethering (see your britax manual) or for forward facing use of the seat.

Eta: when tightening the tether strap for rear facing, just taking the slack out is all you want to do. Don't yank on it hard.

Sounds like you've figured it out! D-Ring to the seat track is the most common way parents do this set up with the rear-facing tether.

Thanks for your replies. The passenger seat is already pretty far up to accommodate the carseat. Thankfully, my husband rarely has a passenger, but I will make sure he knows not to push the seat back when the ring is attached.
