Question about DOM and expiration dates of Car Seats

I see on here that no one wants a seat more than six months old, now if the seat is manafactured in january doesn't it expire at the same time of a seat that is manafactured in december of the same year? Or are different seats different when it comes to that? I know all of my seats say do not use after december 20xx.

Just Curious.

It is different for all manufacturer's. There are a lot that have the December thing. Usually Dorel products. Britax is 6 yrs from DOM.

Yea the only seats I can think off the top of my head that print in to the actual plastic "do not use after 20XX" Are the dorel i.e. cosco seats and the evenflo ones. Lots of others just say "6 years from date of manufacture" in the user manual.
