We are talking about this in the will and kate thread..

They are parents of 1 day.. How many of us got it right that first day? NOt me and that was with the help of the nurses who swore they knew what to do..

People are trying to see if there is a way for someone to help them with that..

They put the baby, still swaddled, in the car seat with very loose straps. Click on the link in post #77. http://www.car-seat.org/showthread.php?t=252135&page=4

But seriously, I'm sure they are just overwhelmed first time parents, many people don't get it right the first time but then they learn... However if this continues for months and months, then I might get judgy and mean about it...

It is a 5 point but no chest clip. They don't use them on european seats.. I read before that it was because you need to be able to get child out in one step for emergencies?

I think that is correct.

It's a 5 point harness. Outside of North America, seats do not have chest clips. There are still 3 point harness infant seats that are widely used in Europe but they're a different design from the ones we had here and they're safer than that old design.

So was mine with my first child. I got it later. Hopefully someone will step in that is close to them and help them out. I am surprised that the hospital did not have some kind of car seat lesson but heck.. They have been parents 24 hours..

We will see how they do after this..

You know, it's possible, they drove around the corner, w/all the escorts and such, and Kate fixed him in his seat properly, since she was in back with him. We have no idea. Can you imagine "presenting" your newborn babe, the day after giving birth, being expected to look that good, standing outside in front of thousands of people and newscasters asking you questions...and then trying to get him buckled up correctly in just a few seconds? I'd be a nervous wreck--might even do it wrong NOW, knowing I could fix him in the car as we pulled away (they sure weren't going to be driving very fast on the crowded street w/all the escorts and police). I'm not recommending that to anyone, but I can imagine doing that myself.

Britax UK had mentioned on their FB page that they had reached out to the Royals before the Princes Birth. From the sound of the message (and the looks of the carseat) the Royals didn't take them up on it..

Bet they do now!
