Question Opinions? DS (turning 5) in a booster soemtimes?

I recently moved DD (7) to a booster. Waited a while for her because she's small. DS is turning 5 in two weeks. He's 40lbs and I *think* has the maturity to use a booster on occasion. He has a Frontier 85 in my car and another in DH's car that he rides in about once a month. Am I crazy for thinking of letting him use a booster sometimes at his age? Honestly I wouldn't have considered it at this age, but he so rarely rides there. Also, a friend of mine who bought one of DD's FR85s is interested in buying another, so I could sell one and get him a Turbo with Safety Surround, which he fits in beautifully, and net about $50 which I kinda need. I am not putting money before safety, hope it didn't sound that way. The fact is, he is big enough, fits well and would rarely ride in it on short trips. Any thoughts?

If it was me, yeah, I would. I think 5 is a good age to start training if possible (maturity wise.)

I boostered dd full-time at 5 (1 month after her birthday, actually). I'll let ds try a booster when he turns 5, too.

Thanks. I appreciate the input. I know DD is going to be offended by the fact that she had to wait until she turned 7 but she's still only 37lbs. And, quite frankly, I was more worried about her maturity than DS's, and so far she is doing great in her boosters, no problems whatsoever, which makes me think DS will be okay as well.

I am considering officially "part- time boostering" my 5 year old as well. He just turned 5 in May.
He has a Frontier 85 in my van (usual vehicle) and a FF radian 65 in the Prius (secondary vehicle) right now.
But I will need to put a RF seat in grandma's car in the fall and instead of buying another convertible for my two year old I am thinking I will move that radian into grandma's car and see if I can fit two boosters in the Prius (along with another RF radian for ds3.)
I have already been letting the 5-year old ride in his older brother's hbb's occasionally for short rides and he used a backless in our rental car when we took an airplane trip.

I think it really depends on the kid for boostering at 5. DD started using a booster in our truck (secondary vehicle) just after she turned 5 and was 40 lb. DS is 5y7m and has only rode in a booster 3-4 times. His maturity isn't there yet and he's much more likely to fall asleep in the car.

I think my 4.5 year old DS would do better in a booster than my 6.5 year old DD  She is wiggly and annoying, he stays still in the car. Well, he's annoying too but in a different way lol.

Thanks! Maybe I will let him try out DD's booster in DH's car to get an idea of how he'll do. He's been asking daily ever since DD switched to a booster a few weeks ago. I've been telling him he's not old enough but haven't given him an exact age yet, simply because I already know I won't have to wait until he's 7 like DD.
