My daughter turned 4.5 years old, and we finally turned her. I had wanted to make it to 5, but she kept talking about turning her seat like her cousin's, so we went ahead & did it.
After 4.5 years of rear facing, this really takes some getting used to!!! She kept saying "mommy, look!" and I'd look in my rear view mirror to see what she was looking at, and then I realized, no, she was looking at something ahead of me. Haha! She also thinks it's fun to kick the center console not happy about that!! She tried propping her legs/feet up on the edge of the seat, but they kept slipping off.. hopefully she gets used to the dangling!
