    Is this safe winter-wear??

    http://www.carseatponcho.com:80/instructions.html

Looks like a great idea, but I'm wondering about the double layer of fleece under the head. I mean, if it is a terrible thing to use those after-market head supports that have just that thin layer of terry under the head, wouldn't a double layer of polar fleece be a no-no too? It seems like it would push the head forward a bit, and change the dynamics of head excursion in a crash.

But I'm hoping it would be a good product, cause it seems like such a nifty idea!

This would be ok to use in a car. The problem with the head supports doesn't necessarily come from having a layer under the head. It has to do with possibly changing how the harness fits as the support wraps around the straps. Also, the bulky support part may slide under the child's head and push the child's head onto their chest.
