Booster seat WWYD?

Dh got roped Into taking ds's Cub Scout group to day camp tomorrow. There are 6 boys and two leaders and he was asked to drive because we have an 8-passenger vehicle and the leaders can't split up (BSA requires two-deep leadership at all times). We have 5 booster seats, but I have to keep two to take the twins to something tomorrow. The other three are ready to go, but I seriously doubt any of the boys are going to 5-step in my vehicle (maybe one, but I'd be surprised). Dh will ask parents to leave seats, but there is no way he's going to get three boosters across in the third row, and only a maybe for the second row. Best case, the one boy does 5-step and he can sit in the middle of the back row...worst case, he doesn't and there's not enough room for 5 booster seats. Dh and the other leader going are the only ones available, so there's no option of getting a couple more adults so that they can take two cars.

What do you do? Let the parents make the call about whether their kid sits in a booster? One of the boys still rides in a booster (aside from ds), but the others don't, so their parents are already going to have a hefty eye roll for dh when he makes an issue of it.

um, these are CUB scouts? So it wouldn't just be poor practice but actually ILLEGAL for them to NOT ride in boosters, is that correct? your state is 8 yo for booster use? I'd make them use boosters. The DRIVER of the vehicle is the one who is responsible, and your dh could be ticketed, or if gosh forbid something happened, sued to hell and back, if he was breaking the law by not transporting the kids legally. Too much risk. Boosters for everyone.

Yeah... if necessary, I'd put whichever adult is skinnier in the no-booster spot, and put one in the front seat to use a booster?

Unless you have a Target that carries BubbleBums nearby...

Other option, if any of the boys are small enough to fit in harnesses, stick two harnessed seats in the third row to make more room?

If any of them are long-legged and the lap belt fit is ok, and the legs bend at the end of the seat, and they can stay in place for the duration, the shoulder belt fitting 100% perfectly isn't absolutely essential. But I don't know that you'll have any 8 year olds that applies to...

All of the boys are 8 yo, so they can legally ride without a booster in our state.

Putting a leader in the back isn't an option...for one, the second leader is a pretty plump guy and wouldn't fit. Dh could probably squeeze into the space, but the other leader has CP and drives a car with some modifications to meet his disability, which aren't something he can easily move from vehicle to vehicle.

The only harnessed seat I have left is a FR85, which isn't going to be a space saver.

We did think about the Bubble Bum option. Target was closed by the time we started getting seats ready, but if he has to, he can stop on the way this morning. I'd like to have one for a spare for situations like this anyway.

There is one boy who might fit the description KQ put out...not sure if his height is in his torso or legs, but he's a possible wildcard.

They are gathering in about 15 minutes, so we'll see how this all plays out.

On the home front, I'm going to have to put one of the twins in the front seat of dh's car to take them to their activity, since I had to keep the FR85, which takes up too much room for 3-across is in car...the LLB is the better option for that place than the HBB, right? We're only going about 2 miles, so thankfully a short drive.

Ok see, for whatever reason, my brain put the word TIGER in front of cub, so in my mind, these were a bunch of 6 year olds LMAO. 8 yo's I really wouldn't sweat.
