Convertible or combination seats with LOCK OFFS?!?!

What are some lower priced seats with lock offs?!?!? Has to be a convertible or combination.

My bf's mom is a nanny and the little girls seat in her van just expired so I am trying to explain to her why she needs a new seat. Her parents and my bf's mom don't see why seats expire so they are going to continue to use the seat unless I give them some affordable options!!

Thanks!

Btw S will be 3 in Nov and is FF which is not going to change

Off the top of my head, I'm going to say the TrueFit is the lowest priced convertible with lockoffs, and the Argos is the cheapest combo. I'm probably wrong, though. :p

That's what I was thinking. Or the Nautilus Elite. I went to BRU today and just looked at the Argos and couldn't find the lock offs anywhere! Am I missing something!?!

Yeah, the regular Argos has no lockoffs. Nautilus Elite is cheaper than the Argos Elite I think.

I'm pretty sure it does, but I didn't read through all the description. I have one (dom 2010) and it has lock offs.

I don't think the lock offs in the true fit premier are meant to replace locking seat belts and the manual says its not to be used with just emergency locking retractors. Unless I'm missing something?

The manual says lap shoulder belts with sliding latch plates (whether ALR or ELR) are allowed. It says not to use lap-only belts with ELR. (The only way to use those belts with any seat is with a belt shortening clip, which is complicated.) The lockoffs are suitable to replace a locking feature on a lap-shoulder belt.

Thanks, I never knew that! It does makes sense then why the manual doesn't tell you to lock the seat belts with an install, but page 18 is so confusing. It just says that ELR Only belts are incompatible. Nothing about shoulder belt + lap belt vs lap only belt. This is why people don't read manuals. LOL

Thanks everyone but sadly they are not going to replace her seat! )=

I told my bf's mom (K) that it was expired and she said she would tell S's mom and her mom said to keep using it because she didn't want to have to buy a new car seat!! I've tried my best so should I just drop it or keep pushing them to replace it? I would buy them a seat but I don't feel it's my responsibility too and they can't rely on me to do that whenever they need a new seat. I just bought a FR 90 for my nanny kids so $$$ is tight now anyways.

Do you live in a State where the law says "proper usage"? If so maybe you could convince the mom to buy a new one because it is illegal and if you get pulled over YOU would be the one getting the ticket?

I have no idea I'm in NC. I have tried telling her that if she gets in an accident with the kids and S gets hurt in an expired seat SHE will be the one in trouble and that's when they got the Marathon 1.5 years ago. S was in a super old car seat that EXPIRED in 1991!!!!! I pushed and pushed them to get a new seat and they got the Marathon from a yard sale. Yes, I know that is horrible but it wasn't expired at the time and I tried telling them that you don't know what it's been through but at that point they had heard enough so I stopped. Now I am just out of ideas. Are there any videos of expired car seats failing in a crash that I can show them???
