Are the Como straps really twisty?? How do they compare to a MA's straps?? Do they fit all the way thru the buckle tongues or are they like the radian and fold as they come thru?? Is there velcro to hold them off to the sides like britax? Thanks!

The straps are definatly twisty. This is my only complaint about the seat. My MA straps are thick and I have never had any trouble with them, but I have to be very careful with the Como straps. They do fold over as they go through the buckle so I just smooth them out and they are better.

I don't know why they did not put better straps on such a nice seat. I try not to let my 5 yo unbuckle the seat because I like to loosen the straps and lay them to the side to decrease the chance of them twisting.

There is no velcro like on the MA but that does not bother me because I never use it on the MA.

they're horrible. not so much in the sense that they twist around up by the chest clip or shoulder pads, but as the harness passes through the buckle tongue it tends to get pushed to one side and then folds over on itself. our RYS's harness seems to be permanently folded over at that point... i can't seem to straighten it out, it comes right back every time i tighten the harness.

it's not a matter of the straps being cheap or expensive (they're the same straps as on the safeguard seats... even the $400 safeguard seat has the same exact straps). the issue is with the geometry of the 5 points relative to the buckle, and the angle of the buckle tongues. this is something that paul at recaro confirmed with me.

There is no velcro.....Then again NONE of the Britax Marathon seats have had the straps match up to the velcro on the cover, so it has been worthless for us

But I DO like on the Britax's how the velcro sewn on patch keeps the buckles from going way down into the seat behind the child.

Thanks for the info! The straps are what are making me not want to get it! My MA velcros have lined up perfectly with all 3 covers I have had and I use it every time. I'm headed on a cross country trip to SC on Friday and I think there is a USA Baby there so I will check out the como. I don't think I need to worry about my kids outgrowing the MA before expiration since my 7 yo still fits with an inch to spare! Thanks guys!

I would call them before you make a trip there to make sure they have them in stock. I know my local USA Baby's are NOT carrying the new Recaro seats. ;)

Safeguard upgraded, so probably only older floor models had twisty straps...enough of the early adopters complained and got new seats and/or harnesses that IMMI realized they should just put Marathon-style (ie, thicker) straps on it (they make almost all the straps on almost all the seats, so there was no infringement by putting Britax-thick straps on their own seats :twocents:

Will do! Although I want to go there anyway and it is close to my sisters house where we are staying:)
