This is my 7 year old in the 3rd row of my Pilot:

She's not at all big for her age--about 49", 50ish lbs, size 7 slim pants. Don't worry, she knows she needs a booster!

I didn't even think to try her with the Literider while it was sitting right there. I did tell her if the booster put the shoulder belt off her shoulder, it would be illegal for her to ride back there!

She turns 8 in October, going into 3rd grade. She's hands down the smallest kid in her class.

Wow, she must be one of the youngest too. My DS is turning 8 in December but our cut-off is 9/1 so he's only going into 2nd. He's even smaller - only 46" and 42#.

I had 6 or 7 year olds 5 stepping in the 3rd row of my Durango. When Md law was 6, and before I came here.

She is. The cutoff where she started kindergarten was 9/30, which she missed by a few days but was allowed to start anyway after some testing. Here, the cutoff is much earlier--8/1, and no exceptions are made.

Wowza. I tried her in the same spot with the Literider. The shoulder belt fit was fine but the lap belt was way out on her thighs, not even close to her hips. I wouldn't like her riding like that.

Right? I know most of her friends toss their boosters right on the 8th birthday, so hopefully some are 3rd row riders with a similar by geometry!

Yep. My 9.5 year old fits better in the 3rd row of my pilot without a booster. Normally she rides in the second row in a booster and Ds (8 in Nov.) rides in the third row in a booster, but he is close to not having a good booster fit back there either. He still has a good booster fit in his Monterey and in his Olli so those are the boosters he uses for now.

DD is 54lbs and 55 inches and DS is 49lbs and around 52 inches so not huge for their age at all.

Heck, my 2 yo darn near 5 stepped (uh, probably not the fifth step, rofl) in the back of a Durango.

Yeah, it gives me hope that lots of kids who are out of boosters too young are the ones using those third row seats and maybe not as bad off as they'd be in a big ol' captain's chair.

That is crazy! My 4 yo fits the belt properly in the third row of our mkt. my head touches the ceiling in that same position.
