Golf cart use with kids under 2

We are going to Catalina Island off the coast of California and renting a condo which comes with a golf cart. The island doesn't allow cars so everyone drives golf carts. Should we even bother bringing our car seats with us? I was thinking we will just leave them in the car at the boat dock. DS will be 7 months and DD will be 23 months. There are plenty of adults to handle holding the kids. I was thinking DS in a carrier and DD on someone's lap. Since there's no risk of hitting a regular car I'm inclined to be less concerned but I wanted to know what the experts think.

I asked my friend for you. She's a CPST-I and spends lots of time on Catalina. She said that when you rent a golf cart from a rental company, they require you to use car seats in compliance with California law, even though I don't think the law actually applies to golf carts.

Are you renting the condo from an individual or a vacation company? If its a company, they might have the same requirements for golf carts. I would call and ask.

Good to know. We rented from a company that handles the rentals for private owners. I just called and they said that they don't require them but that some cops do give tickets for not using a car seat. I'll talk to my husband and see. I'm kind of inclined to just take my chances because I am sure we can't fit 7 adults and 2 car seats in a golf cart and we only have 1. We'll see...

You know you can only fit 6 adults on a golf cart, right? If you put 7 adults and 2 kids on one, you WILL get stopped. It would be very noticeable if you pack it that full. Catalina traffic cops are BORED, LOL.

I think we have more than 1. We have several condos and there is one cart per condo. Thanks!
