Is someone at Ford smoking crack? Latch and seatbelt together.

We are driving one of my department's 2010 Ford E350 12 passenger vans across the country so I was just reading the child restraint section of the manual and came across this gem on page 124:

If the safety seat is not anchored properly, the risk of a child being injured in a crash greatly increases.

Combining safety belt and LATCH lower anchors for attaching child safety seats
When used in combination, either the safety belt or the LATCH lower anchors may be attached first, provided a proper installation is achieved. Attach the tether strap afterward, if included with the child seat. Refer to Recommendations for attaching child safety restraints for children in this chapter.

On a positive note, it seems that I won't have any trouble top tethering DD's Nautilus, since there are TT in every position on both of the 3 seat benches. There are also 2 on the back bench (but we'll be taking that one out) and one on the front passenger seat.

Ford does allow that in some (all?) of its vehicles. Of course, the car seat needs to allow it, too. So far, Combi is the only one that does, and only in vehicles that allow it. So if you have a Combi and a Ford, you could use both.

Britax has been known to allow it, in the past...
I'm half surprised Diono doesn't, they are always allowing stuff that doesn't really fit da rule book.

I saw something similar in my mother in law's ford focus (2013) manual - but in "chart" form clearly indicating you could use both. I always meant to ask here about that!

This started in the 2010 MY Fords and there are several threads here with pictures of the chart.
