Need seat recommendation please.

What seat would you recommend for a 33lb 3 1/2yo (will be 4 in Oct.) with a 13.5" torso that is around $50? Is that even possible? Kac has generously offered a Evenflo Chase she has but I don't know too much about the Chase. Would it get this little peanut to booster age?

See update in post #9.

Chase harnesses to 40 lbs. Maestro to 50 lbs. There is the new chase that looks like a Securekid with out an adjustable headrest at walmart. It only harnesses to 40 lbs but makes on OK booster (same fit as the Maestro)

If it's the new Chase, I think it'd be fine (probably be 5 before 40lb, eh?) IIRC, the old one had pretty low top slots.

My DD1 was in one of the old Chases at that age/size and outgrew it around age 5 by height. At 3-1/2 she was on the middle slots. So I would say it is possible :) (I don't know how the new one compares to the old one).

Pretty sure it's always been among the tallest of the cheap seats. Back in the olden days, you could choose the Chase or Cargo if you wanted a seat with about 17" top slots (and they were also allowed harnessed to 47/48 pounds with top tether in Canada... there were no seats with higher limits back then, lots of parental decisions to use them a little longer with very young kids, rather than booster. Crazy times, those pre-HWH days...)

Thanks guys. We are going to go ahead and get the Chase from Kac for this little guy and that will give his mom more time to save up money for a better seat if she chooses to.:)

Picked up the seats (2 chases) from Kac yesterday.:D They'll be going to my friend next Friday. In the mean time of course I had to try one out.;)

Here's Gavin in an Evenflo Chase. I was absolutely amazed at how much room he had before his shoulders were even with the top slots. Unfortunately he is at the max weight limit so wouldn't be able to use it but here ya go! (oh, and I am aware that the chest clip is a bit low. I just threw him in there quickly cause he didn't feel like playing car seats as you can see from the 2nd pic:eek:).
