Nissan snug kids

Is anyone else slightly frustrated by the Nissan snug kids info being promoted? I assume this is a national campaign. I have seen snug kids info before, but this seems like a bigger push. http://www.nissanusa.com/snugkids/

The part that is bothering me can be seen installation tip #1. They mention using a nonslip mat on leather seats to help stabilize the child restraint. I am not a tech, but I do know that seat mats aren't recommended for installation because they can mask a loose/poor installation.

Also, on the commercial, I think the harness on the infant seat looks a bit loose at the shoulders. Just venting. A lot of the other information is good, but the seat mat recommendation threw me for a loop!

there's some good tips there, but some of it does seem like it could encourage less than favorable habits. #6 jumps out at me, I'm not a tech, but I've always heard that you should only recline the seat back, install, then straighten the seat back as a last resort. otherwise you can cause too much prolonged stress on the vehicle seat belt webbing. and #10 says that seats equipped with latch (all harnessed seats) do not require use of the vehicle seat belt to install. It does say check your manuals, but I think it should mention there are weight limits on LATCH, to plant that seed to actually go and check the manual, cuz we all know how many parents don't. but it's nice to see a vehicle manufacturer putting in the effort to help kids ride safer

I think it is a good idea, but the lists don't really clear anything up. The list for my car (Sentra) doesn't even test for the Radian RXT (which I have). Likewise, just because a seat fits IN a particular vehicle RF doesn't mean that it will be practical. I see this list causing a lot of headaches at seat checks. I can just imagine parents saying, "but the list said it would fit, so I bought it" and the techs having to explain the limitations to a disappointed parent. I also see parents excluding a particular seat from consideration simply because it wasn't tested in their vehicle.
