Thoughts on the Pro Ride

I'm thinking I'll use a convertible for Griffin, who will be 3 months when I start babysitting him in a couple of weeks. I can't lift his carrier anyway because my right arm has a work related injury and it's too painful and weak.

I already have the Pro Ride and I think he'll fit because he's a giant boy.:) I've used the Radian as my last convertible. Will I find the Pro Ride a big pain to get him into? I only used it forward facing for Matthew. Or should I get something else? Like a Radian?

I really like my older version of it. It always seemed like a cuddly cocoon for my ds and he rf to 4 in it. I like it way better than the radian for little babies especially.

I am planning to put my 6 month old dd into it when she is big enough for the bottom slots (she is 24" but short bodied). My only thoughts about a 3 month old would be whether or not he'll fit the bottom slots, and that it installs kind of upright rf in my car so you might need a noodle.

I know, the Radian seems too open to me for a little baby. I THINK he'll be tall enough. He was 26 inches at his 2 month check up and he's torso boy. Yeah, I hadn't considered the recline. I plopped it in my car last night. I thought it was too upright, realized I should recline it and did. It seemed ok then but maybe not. I think he'll likely will need a 45 degree recline. His head is giant and control isn't great yet. Luckily there was still room between my seat and his. And I'll probably put it on the passenger side anyway.

You already have a ProRide, right?

I babysit a 4 month old, with the headrest all the way down the straps are too high. If he fits I would use it. I love ours.

Edit: I obviously didn't read all the way through. My only concern would if he actually fits. One pool noodle will help with the recline. I use a Radian with baby heather.

I hated mine, but I got it when DD was about 18 months. I think it would've been fine if she had been that young.

I loved my older model from 4 or 5 months to about 2 years. Very snuggly and easy to clean. I switched to a RN at about 2 for legroom, and missed my easy to use Recaro. :( I think it's still my all time favorite seat!

I thought you had one. Thanks for responding. Well, I'll probably give it a try if it fits. I liked it fine ff but I didn't have to load or buckle Matthew. He did it himself. I like the highness of it so baby can see out more. And that it's more supportive. I didn't know how I'd find actually loading the boy over the sides.

I was thinking I might like it until about 2 ish.

Here's a picture of heather in the seat in the house. Sorry I don't know her full stats she's approximately 12lbs, 25", just moved into 3-6 mo onesies. The straps are up around her ears.

Thanks. Maybe he's not as tall as I thought. I think he's still wearing 0-3 month stuff. It's getting tight though.

I bet the baby in the pic would fit if she had the booty pads in (I can't remember what those are actually called). That thing raises my baby up at least 2 inches, which is not quite enough for mine but that baby looks a little longer. OP I bet your grandson will fit in a couple of weeks if he is already 26".

From what I understand the infant thing they send is only to get the baby closer to the crotch buckle, and I completely forgot about the pad to go under her. I haven't even thought of it since I took it out. It's only about 1/2" thick though.

My younger son fit in our Signo G2 when he was 4 months old and small to average sized with the infant insert. I dont like our Signo and bought him a NextFit instead though. Its hard to get a child in and out because of the high sides and it has very little leg room.

I don't think I had anything that came with the seat. I just went through my car seat stuff and threw some expired things and random cup holders away. My grandson's torso looks very long to me. But he is still in 0 - 3 mos, so, who knows.

I'm worried about the difficulty of loading/unloading. My car is low so maybe that will help, as opposed to being up in an SUV. And hopefully his legs are short! For sure they're roly poly!

Just thought I'd mention I emailed Recaro about the insert. They said it is available and is to be removed at 9 lbs, which Griffin is way beyond.

Well, Griffin fits in the ProRide. I can see it being difficult to get him in as he gets bigger. I'll probably trade it in for something else later on. Here he is!

I was surprised how shallow it is. I kept trying to scoot his butt back!
