Car seat installation in the king cab (suicide doors)- read the child restraint section of your manual first, these pictures are for demonstration purposes only. Only the passenger side rear seat may be used for child restraints. (Car seat shown in background is not installed)

Suzuki does not recommend use of the front passenger seat with a child restraint installed in the rear seat. I am not a tech and these installations weren't checked- this commentary is my opinion only.

Evenflo Triumph Advance/65 rear facing:

It was not compatible forward facing in either recline position. With the seat belt all the way tight it would easily slide around 8 inches side to side.

Britax Frontier 85 long belt path- barely acceptable installation- exactly 20% overhang and due to routing of top tether, not all tether slack could be removed. There is a significant gap behind the seat and if this seat needed to be used, I would have a tech check to see if this is acceptable:

Graco Nautilus- it took a significant amount of effort and bouncing on the seat to achieve less than 1" of movement front to back and side to side

Evenflo Maestro- not compatible, several inches of movement front to back and side to side no matter how much I tried.

That back seat is the weirdest thing I have ever seen! ...and the tether routing? That takes the icing on the cake! Truck tether routing is usually weird enough but this is...different.

I think your boyfriend needs a family friendlier truck. ;)

So is his ds staying in the rear seat now?

This truck's backseat has a twin, btw. Nissan Frontier, maybe? I'll have to google, but its the same bizarre set-up. BTDT, right down to the rec that the front seat not be occupied if a CR is installed in the rear.

Also, go back and check the airbag section and make sure the seat covers he is using wont restrict torso airbag deployment, if the truck happens to have them.

Yes, his Nautilus is staying installed in the back seat now. I didn't see any tags for airbags when I took off the cover.
