If you think the six year old can be booster ready for at least a few weeks when you go, I'd ship a Frontier. If you think a booster will be out of the question then I'd bring the Frontier.

Something like a Graco Turbobooster would probably be easy. Train with it here, take the back off and put it in luggage, carry the bottom on board (that way if the luggage is lost you have something). Then you have a booster for when you get there.
