Tether clip on TrueFit

I have 2 TrueFit Premiers. One from 2009 and one from 2010, both seem to have faulty tether clips. The little metal piece that is supposed to close doesn't close. Is this a real problem or just annoying? I have played with both of them in cars and the bigger, black part of the tether clip does not come loose.

This was a big thing a few years back. There are instructions from Learning Curve out there on how to fix it. I don't think I have them any more but I'm sure someone who does will be able to post them.

That little piece of metal is for convenience. It isn't load bearing. Basically it holds the tether anchor hook in place while you tighten the strap. If you were installing it a LOT I would get the kit. If not, just make sure the fat part of the hook is hooked onto the TA properly when you install it. If that makes any sense LOL.

Yep, that's what I've been doing. They're spare seats at the moment, so I haven't worried too much about it.

I had problems getting mine to stay on the anchor, so I called and got the fix kit. The fix kit really fixes it. It's just a plastic piece that snaps on.

I just used a screwdriver to force the bent metal piece back up to the hook.

I have an 09 as well and this is what I did to fix it. It is a bit hard to unhook it again in the car, but it's the only clip I have that makes a firm, clipping sound because of it.
