What is the Chaperones front to back length?

I keep seeing that the Chaperone will not fit in every vehicle, but I don't see anything about how long it is so I can see if it would fit in my vehicle. The closest I have got is the seat dimensions of 30 inches deep. Is this how big it is front to back (installed with base)?

I have an Odyssey and it will be in the passenger side middle row captain's chair. I am thinking right now it will be on the outboard position so DS doesn't mess with newbie too much. I also like space between the children for safety. :)

I thought I had this carseat issue figured out then I realized that my older son was 32 inches at 1 year and now I am rethinking everything. I would like an infant seat to last 1 year for my newbie, just so I have the best chance of finding something that would be perfect for him for extended rear facing. :)

I don't have a chaperone, but I have a 2013 Odyssey and my B-Safe fits in ever seating position. In wide mode I can even get Frontier/B-Safe/Frontier.

I have no issues fitting it in any back seat position in my 09' Accord. I am a little over 5'9 and with my seat back where I need it, it does not touch the Chaperone. In fact, there is quite a bit of space between the seat back and the Chaperone.

I'll try to attach some photos.

ETA: I used Sophie the giraffe as a measurement tool as its the most universal measurement tool I have in the car right now.

Thanks! You are the same height as DH and he is the one in the seat in front of newbie (I always like to drive).

Did you ever have a Radian (without the AA)? DH says that based on the 30 inch measurement that I measured yesterday, he would have more room then when DS was in the Radian. I am just wondering if that holds true.

The Radian front-back measurement is going to be heavily dependent on how it installs in a given seat (in particular, how angled the seating surface of the vehicle seat is). In my car (08 Kia Sedona, captain's chair), I can say with about 90% certainty that the Radian without AA takes up more front-back space than the Chaperone.

I have a Radian65 (Sunshine Kids, Diono's predecessor) which I can try in that location later if you'd like a comparison in that same spot :)

Thank you! I think that is what I had. It was a SK and I got it in early 2009. I remember it had side impact protection but I don't think that adds much to the size. I don't have that seat anymore because of an accident.

Here you go :)

It fit very well, all I had to do was adjust the seat back upright slightly.

I also pulled out the Graco Safeseat to give you something else to compare to the Chaperone.

I've included a picture of a position that makes it easier to get the slack out of the seatbelt or LATCH strap. I did have to move the seat up to do that though.

Again, Sophie is helping with measurement. Hope these help!

Thanks that does help! The Radian we had we tried EVERY trick in the book to get it more upright. DS was 2 for most of the time that we had that seat and he wanted to sit more upright. DH was tired of sitting in a straight jacket (not really but he was sitting straight up with very little leg room) in front of the seat. I think this is one of the reasons why I didn't like the Radian. It was good from a safety point for my son, but not for anyone else in the car. :(

Have you tried the Angle Adjuster? (often referred to as AA here). It is a Diono part which goes underneath the base of the Radian and makes it more upright. Only for use by children 1 year and older. It can be found on Amazon for about $12-$13. It really helps make the install more upright, I wish I had one LOL.

That carseat was thrown out after an accident and my son was moved to the Frontier 85 SICT. I hated moving him to FF but I felt like I had no choice. He was about 41 lbs then and I thought that nearly 3 years rear facing was good. He turned 3 about 3 weeks later. That was about 18 months ago now. So I don't think they had the AA back then.

This is one of the biggest reasons though why I am looking for a infant seat that will last the longest for my newbie. I want to get a convertible that will be perfect for us when it is time. I am hoping now that they have the load leg on some infant seats, that it will translate to the load leg on some convertibles soon. I may be dreaming but might as well dream big!
