Question Advice on rear facing convertible seat in 2-door 2004 Ford Focus Hatchback

My 10 month old is rapidly outgrowing her Keyfit, and we're looking for a convertible seat for her. The problem(s)? We have a 2 door Ford Focus Hatchback and my husband is 6'4", so one of our seats needs to be as far back as possible. I had *really* hoped to be able to put a rear facing convertible in the middle of the back seat, so that we could access it from either side, as I assume we're going to have to climb in with the baby to strap her in while she's still rear facing. However, after seeing some seats in person, I think that putting a seat in the middle is a pipe dream.

Can anyone suggest a great seat that will suit our needs? It would also be ok if we could put it behind my seat, as I'm only 5'7", leaving my husband the space he needs.

Any feedback would be greatly appreciated!

I have a Foonf in the back of my 2-door Yaris. We were able to fit it behind the driver's seat (Toyota doesn't allow for centre seat installs), but both hubby & I are about 5'7" so we could get away with it. It's been working great for us so far (we've been using it about 4 months now).

Toyota does allow for center installs you just need to use the seatbelt.

The britax convertibles are usually pretty small front to back and the nextfit might be able to go upright enough and is rounded in the back to fit part between the seats.

In my experience rear facing convertibles take up less room front to back than infant seats. You might not be as bad off as you think. If you have one close try a Babies r Us and try different seats out in your car before deciding on something.
