Stroller and air travel

So I realized we will want a stroller for all of our museum touring so ds3 can hopefully catch some naps on-the-go.
I bought a little travel roly cart for the radian but if we being a stroller I can just use that around the airport instead
We have a cheap umbrella stroller but the radian can't even fit in there, open orfolded. It's too small.
I'm going to look at someone's chicco umbrella stroller tomorrow ($40 craigslist) as it should be wider than my umbrella stroller and hopefully the radian 65 will fit in/on it. The lady selling it measured it for me and its going to be close...
However, would I be crazy to bring our graco metro lite stroller? (The one that was part of our "travel system" with the snugride?) It should be big enough for the radian, it's familiar, it reclines, I secretly hate it so if the airline destroys it I won't mind... - but it doesn't fold up as small as an umbrella stroller and will take up more space in the rental car trunk.
Anyone ever taken one of these on a plane trip? It's a direct flight, if that matters.

I think LM4M had 2 Graco strollers broken while flying. The wheels seem prone to it...

My Radians sat fine in my Babies R Us umbrella and they are only like $25, so NBD if they are lost/broken, or if they get dirty, etc. Pic here: http://www.car-seat.org/showpost.php?p=1082084&postcount=1

I used a bungee to hold them on. I'd absolutely get a cheap umbrella that they'll fit on if it will make your life easier. But if you don't care about the Graco, bring that instead.
