Has anyone had problems with the chest clip on infant seats being opened by the child? The higher weight limits means older children are staying in the seat longer.

Hi and welcome! :) Parents do have problems with their children opening chest clips. I don't think it tends to happen on infant seats, because even the larger model infant seats still tend to be outgrown by most children in the 12-18 month old range before most kids have the dexterity to open chest clips. However, parents of toddlers and older kids who are rear-facing in convertible carseats (or older kids who are forward-facing) do experience problems with kids opening chest clips. There are often solutions that can be recommended (one great one I've seen before is to put a button-up shirt on the kiddo and button the buttons over the chest clip once the kiddo is secured properly in the seat).

Are you having problems with your child opening his or her chest clip or was this more of a theoretical question? If you are having problems, sharing which carseat you have and the age of your kiddo might help the members of this board figure out a more specific solution. :)

How old is the child and what seat do you have? My 2.5 year old is just learning how to use the buckle on his convertible seat, I can't imagine a child in an infant seat having the ability to unbuckle the clip. Could it be a faulty clip or not latching all the way?
