If its a UAS/latch install in a toyota, I think the vehicle manual will indicate the seat back is to be reclined 7 clicks or something oddly specific

5 clicks. Which can look fairly reclined in pictures, but really isn't.

is it tippy at all? which generation AA do you have? Where are you tethering to?

I have one of the first gen AAs and just put a rf rxt in the same position in an 06 sienna and found that it was kind of tippy. I also had a difficult time finding a good point to tether too. I'm wondering if the tippy issue is because the AA is soft and squishy and well used.

Not tippy at all. I am using the new style AA. I have it tethered to bar under the driver seat. It is a movable part, but I am the only driver of this van and the seat isn't moved (from my past understanding this is okay, otherwise there is no where else to tether).

Eta: I can also only get an acceptable install with latch, seatbelt isn't tight enough and I think it slips too.

I have an unused 1st gen AA, and it's not tippy.

The legs of the front seats have removable plastic covers. Remove that and you can easily tether to the legs. (Picture doesn't show the tether, but I can get that if you want).
