Re: Honda Odyssey 2011+ "plus one" successful install thread

I have been able to install a Graco Headwise 70 in the middle seat of the second row in my 2013 Ody with latch. I cannot for the life of me get it to install ff with seatbealt and get a even decent install. I tried the freaking whole day. It moves 3 inches side to side. I even had DH help me.

My DS outgrew the new weight requirements for using the latch FF in his Radian RXT (I got a great tight install) so I ended up putting the Radian RXT there in the "plus one" seat FF with seat belt and it was sooooo freaking hard. I had to get my DH to help me, we both broke a sweat but we reclined the seat and used all of our might and we finally have a very solid install. I couldn't get a good RF install with seatbelt or latch in the center seat though, not even with an angle adjuster because of the boot, not even reclining the vans seat worked.

Has anyone installed a Britax frontier 90 with cligktight install in the "plus one" seat???

Not me personally, but I remember seeing pictures of it in another thread. IIRC, the install was tight, but the +1 seat is so narrow that the versatether goes around the sides of the seat, not over the top.

Was there any side overhang with the RF Graco clone?

Re: Honda Odyssey 2011+ "plus one" successful install thread

My daughter had the Radian seat there FF with latch. Great! Then she hit 40 lbs. and I did seatbelt, and I was not happy with the install at all. I ended up getting her a high-booster with rigid latch (Kiddyworld) as she'd just turned 5. That seat was awesome! (And come to think of it, the RF install didn't please me either, so we took that out).

Right now I have a RF Advocate there and it's a little too wide to move outboard seat forward without friction. It works, but I want to get a different seat at some point. It needs to be smooth and fast movement for carline!

Looking at that new 50 lb. RF seat (Advance Air I think?). I wonder if it's narrower. Certainly the Advocate FF would be too wide.

there was some overhang but i read 20% was okay. I ended up putting a Britax Pavillion RF with latch in the plus seat anyway since it fit better than the headwise due to its narrower base. I had my 3 kids RF in the second until a month or so ago that i ff my almost 5 y/o. I had the best fit with RF Radian with latch, RF Britax Pavillion with latch and RF Graco headwise.

Overhang at the front of the seat may be ok; Britax at least doesn't allow any side overhang. I haven't heard specifically about Graco.

Does anyone know if a Recaro ProRide fits RF in the plus one?

I have a Snugride 22 on the jump seat of a 2013 Ody. The bottom of the base is entirely on the seat. The side wings (the top of the seat base) overhang. The LATCH install is tight. I have a pic but the url is not working--I'll try it from home later. But the wings hanging over--does anyone know if that is an issue? Any help greatly appreciated!

I thought YinzerMama has said in another thread somewhere that the Nextfit works, rfing. At first try it didn't work, but I thought I remembered she tried it again and it did work. Maybe it was someone else? Not sure about ffing. Has anyone else tried it?

Has anyone successfully installed a Scenera Next RF in the plus one? Also, was it with latch or seat-belt?

For those interested, the Britax Frontier CT g1.1 installed in the "plus one" seat.

the base fits perfect of the Frontier but the versatether is a no go as someone else stated because it wraps around the seat since it's so narrow. I am considering putting the headrest backwards and putting the tether through the headrest. I will call Britax Monday to ask it is okay or not or for any suggested solutions or to be told that it's simply just not safe which is what I suspect.
I do have to say that the install was like super super super rock solid, I love the clicktight technology. The Frontier was no problem installing in the outerboard of the second and third rows.

The headrest can't go in backwards, I tried it the posts are slightly curved and only go forward facing and the notch to lock it in is only on one post.

Why not just take it out then?

I think the previous poster was hoping to use the legs of the headrest to keep the versa tether from slipping down the sides of the seat.

I think there is a (Britax-approved) thing you can do with wrapping a tether extender around the "V" of the Versatether to make it narrower. I would contact them about it.

Yep. Making the Y a T. You actually do it with the tail end of the tether. I did do it, but didn't love the results. Plus I have a Defender that works in that spot so...

This thread offers more information, though not complete clarity. http://www.car-seat.org/showthread.php?t=246002

It sounds like Britax is OK with you routing the tether inside the headrest posts and using them to narrow up the "V" (but Honda *might* not be - I'll try to find the other thread I'm thinking of that has more of Honda's take).

Or you can take the tail of the tether strap and tie it around the V, using that to narrow it. Illustrated in the last picture in the thread.

This I think is the other thread I was thinking of, and it doesn't really help. http://www.car-seat.org/showthread.php?t=248114 Sounds like Honda has never said anything useful about it.

Britax offers tether extenders now that the Versatethers are shorter, right? Has anyone ever tried to contact Britax for a tether extender?
