Replacing seat belts???

Does the seat belt need to be replaced after any crash? Or just those considered "moderate to severe" by the NHSTA. Are the same NHSTA standards for seat belt replacement as car seat replacement? If so, we meet the criteria for a minor crash but the standards say nothing about speed. We rear-ended someone, not sure how fast we were going but we were in a 45 mph speed zone and had started to slow down. I am all concerned now about whether we need to replace seat belts... (we're paying for all repairs out of pocket because our insurance didn't have as much coverage as we thought).

I believe the body shop has it on their list of things to inspect after a crash, I'm not exactly sure of the details, but my Brother in Law had a body shop and did always inspect them. If you had pretensioners that activated, that's a tiny explosive charge to clamp the belt up before a crash, it would be obvious those belts need replacing. But otherwise it's all a simple mechanical mechanism, you can make sure there's no ripping or stretching of the belts and the belts still lock when you tug them fast and ask the body shop what the inspection standards are. I paid to replace a rear belt once, at the dealership, it was over $300
