I helped out for a few hours yesterday at the Anchorage Kid's Day event where the Alaska Injury Prevention Center had a booth. Our primary focus was on booster-age kids, but we had more techs than demo seats, so when I was free I actively started conversations with as many parents of infants as I could. Out of the 5 or so parents I had time to talk to in-depth, they ALL were extremely interested in hearing the benefits of ERF and most wondered why they hadn't heard it before.
I tend to be a bit loquacious at times, but I'm trying to do better about reading cues and body language to decide when to shut up, but honestly nearly every parent I talked to was hungry for more and more information! It was great! A couple of them I actually had to put an end to the conversation and send them away with some websites (including this one, of course!) to do some further research.
Anyway, I mention this because I think the vast majority of parents out there can "get it" if we as advocates keep doing our best to put the best info out there. We're getting there!
