Pre- vs. Post- 2011 BOB Duallie? Are the changes worth it?

I am debating getting a new BOB Duallie, or getting a 2010 version from CL for $150 cheaper. Are the new changes on the 2011 BOB worth the extra cost? Is one narrower than the other or are they the same size? Is the seat bottom on the pre-2011 just fabric, or is it structured in some way? Other reasons to get or not get the new one?

Newer ones are wider at the wheels, have better recline, have the accessory port, and have molded foam seats where the back is reinforced, but the seat itself is still a sling-type (just with molded foam). I'm pretty sure the seat on the older ones are just fabric.

The harness is also different, though I'm not sure which is better.

So, if I don't plan to use the accessory port to attach snack trays or infant seats, which should I go for? Are the other new features worth it? And I am surprised to see that the newer ones are wider at the wheels, I thought I read that the newer ones are narrower...hmmm.

I looked into it, and, while the new singles have a wider stance, the duallies' stance is unchanged. Apparently the seats themselves are narrower. I think both changes are for stability purposes, though I've not seen any complaints about stability on the older ones anyway.

Since the accessory port is the biggest update, you might be better off with the previous generation, because you'll get more bang for your buck. Just in case, though...

The lack of a fold lock might annoy me, but you can just install one yourself. The new one is a buckle on the wrist strap and a lower point on the frame, so it's still not super easy. You might as well just thread a buckle (available at craft and climbing stores) onto the old wrist strap and use that.

Some people complain about the fabric covered "nose" on the stroller (new ones have a plastic guard over the plastic), but I really think that's an aesthetics thing. Fabric looks "worn" more quickly.

Another thing that comes down to preference: the newer one has a thinner handle bar. I think I mostly see this pointed out because people favor the older one, so you're probably okay there.

If you don't see anything here that makes you not want the old style, then I think that would be the best fit and beat deal for you :)

The only reason I would choose a newer version is for the fabric issues (wear and tear shows easier, as previously mentioned) and the footwell is different. I would justify it in my head by saying that the resale value would be better, so I wouldn't be out colossal amounts of money on either version I chose really.

Thanks for the info! Any difference in the rain-proofness of the canopies? My daughter hates rain covers that close her in, so we would need to rely on the canopy for coverage in the rain.

I don't know the answer to that, but you can probably treat the fabric with a water repellent spray if it leaks, unless it's at the seams, in which case you'd have to use tape.

ETA: Water repellent treatments fade over time and use, so you may need to look into this either way.
