We have a Roundabout for my 7 month old that I love. I need to buy a seat for grandma's car though and I would prefer not to spend a fortune, since my son would not be in the seat very often. I'm looking for suggestions for a relatively inexpensive convertible seat. I prefer to be able to tighten the harness straps from the front of the seat. Thanks!

I've heard the Evelfo Triumph is nice & might cost about $100 ... I think it goes up to 30# rear-facing & 40# forward-facing. I do know it doesn't have a shield & that's good because shields can pose a higher risk than 5-point harness restraints, especially for smaller babies.

Actually there is a few relatively inexpensive seats you can chose from. The rear facing range is from 30-35 pounds depending on the seat. As far as price goes you should be able to find a 5-point harness convertible for under $80 at a local department store which should have a few to chose from such as Walmart, Target, Kmart ect.

There's only one convertible that you can't tighten the straps from the front...the Century/Graco 1500 STE (I've only seen at at Babies R Us lately...if you see, it, don't bother...the RF weight limit is only 22 pounds, too!)
