JJB Be Hip for 5 year old?

Would the Be Hip be a good size for a 5 year old to carry on field trips/day trips? She needs something to hold a water bottle, a snack or toy, tissues, sunscreen, bug spray and a few other things. I am having no luck finding anything reasonably priced that will suit this need and was thinking a used Be Hip might work I just am not sure if it'd be too bulky. She is on the short side for 5, 41" or so...

How about a small backpack? Have you looked at Land's End (e.g. http://www.landsend.com/pp/kids-my-first-scooter-print-backpack~239704_-1.html), LL Bean, or Target (e.g. http://www.target.com/p/skip-hop-ladybug-zoopack/-/A-13861880#prodSlot=medium_1_9)? Although I tend to prefer the quality of the bags at the first two places, I would think you could find something fun for a small kid for a low price at Target, possily something good quality too. HTH

She doesn't like backpacks

She hates having to take it off to get into it. I found this on the LL Bean site which is perfect for what we need, but I need to get two of them so $20 is my absolute max budget. Preferably closer to $10 or $15 though.

LOL i just searched for mini messengers and then changed it so they where listed by price. (Maybe it was small messengers but either way thats all nothing special.)

Glad to see you found something. I prefer cross body bags too, so I get where she's coming from, but that's hard to find for a 5 year old and they're often pricey. I hope you found something that will work for you.
