Question 3 year old is un-clipping chest clip!

My son is 3 and is in a Britax Frontier 65 and he just started un-clipping the chest clip and pulling his arms out. His does this multiple times during a drive. What can I do to make it harder for him to un-clip it? Everyone on facebook told me to use scare tactics, but he doesn't understand that, and I can't do the "we're not moving this truck until you stop doing it" because that doesn't bother him. I've looked at other seats, but they have similar chest clips.

Can he undo buttons on a button up shirt? If he can't, I would add a button up over top of his regular shirt for car rides, buckle him in, then button the shirt over top the harness. At age 3 unless there are disabilities, it really is a discipline issue. You might let him have a special car toy that he only can have when he stays buckled.

Really? A discipline issue? Or he see's his older siblings using belts and wants to do the same. And come to think of it, he doesn't do it when they aren't in the truck with us.

I didn't mean anything bad by it. You've given him a rule that he needs to follow, whether his siblings are in the vehicle or not. You can either physically prevent him from doing it using a shirt method, reward him for not touching it, or give him a consequence when he does undo it.

If you would rather put him in another seat, Evenflo seats have a chest clip that I find harder to undo than Britax. Depending on size, he might fit in the Evenflo SecureKid 300 or 400.
