Rules for a new booster rider

I put a Turbobooster in our van for dd last weekend so that her Prosport could go in dh's car (which none of the kids had been in for a while). Since she'd never been in a booster before I told her that it was very important that she didn't move around, because she needed to be still in order for the booster to do its job and protect her.

Today when we were driving, she started asking why it was important for her to stay still and I explained about proper belt positioning and how a harness keeps her in the right position, but a seatbelt depends on her staying in the right position. I thought I was doing a pretty good job explaining everything until she asked if it was okay if she moved her hands. Whoops. Guess I overstated the "no moving" rule a bit! (I'm glad she asked!)

I had to tell DD that she could breathe the first time made a practice trip off the property. She was so stiff, I had to help her relax.

LOL. You should've shown her Anne's song and dance. It's so cute.

Sounds like I am not the only one to scare their kid into good booster behavior! :D I should totally show her Anne's song!

This may be our problem. My DD rode in her new booster the other day and she told me she does not want to do it again and wants to stay harnessed. I wonder if this is why.
